An application from a mother to the President of India
To
His Excellency
The President of India
Rashtrapati Bhavan
New Delhi
Sub: Prayer for saving a life
Revered Sir,
With deep respect to your Excellency I, a poor widow of 75, and an honest senior citizen of India beg your pardon for my son’s life.
Narendra Modi is my only son and he has been sentenced to death by the Supreme Court as he was accused of murder of his friend, which, I still believe, was done in self-defense. On the date of verdict, I lost my husband. He was too old (80) to bear the news and died of a heart attack. Now I have no one to take care of me in this world.
Narendra Modi is not a professional murderer and he has been passing his life in repentance for the long period of the trial that has lasted seven years.
I pray to you to save the life of a widow’s only son for which act of kindness I and my repentant son shall remain ever grateful to you.
Yours truly,
Helena Modi
[Note: Try to avoid abbreviations like Hon. or Hon’ble etc. in such formal letters of prayer or appeal, since they tend to be disrespectful in such a context. Write the full form ‘Honourable’ or ‘Revered’ in such cases.]
