This statement means that mothers are the makers of heroes who rule the world. A mother is the best guide and teacher of a child. The tender heart of a mother always looks to the welfare of a child. She tries to bring up her child very carefully and according to her best ideals. There can be no better well-wisher of a child than its mother, for no one can love it more than she does. But mothers must themselves be noblewomen to be able to shape the future career of their children. Any defect in the mother’s character is sure to spoil the child. On the other hand, high-minded, liberal, spirited mothers have made the best children who have ruled over man. It is because a child’s mind is very flexible and impressionable. The lives of Napoleon, Iswarchandra Vidyasagar, Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, have all been largely shaped by their noble-minded mothers. In this way, a mother is said to govern the destiny of the nation. It is she who rocks the cradle and it is she again who rules the world indirectly. And so no nation in the world can hope to be strong and progressive whose women remain uneducated or uncultured.
