Essay On Physically Challenged or Handicapped

In our society there are many physically handicapped or disabled people or physically challenged person. Some of them are physically handicapped and some others are mentally challenged. Some of them are born-disabled. There are others who have lost limbs or sense organs on account of an attack of some diseases like small pox, leprosy, polio etc. Others are victims of accidents such as train or bus accidents, bomb-explosions, attempted murder, fire-burns etc. or injury in factories and so on. In this or that way they are deprived of the joy of enjoying a normal life.
Essay On 'Physically Challenged' or 'Handicapped'
We must not look down upon these persons. On the contrary, they must be made to feel that life still holds charm for them. They should be encouraged to face the hurdles of life boldly and we can help them to be self-helping. They can be usefully employed in various craft and vocations he befitting to them. They can achieve great success if they are given enough opportunity and assistance. Anyone who is blind can develop the talent of the music. Beethoven, who was deaf, became the world famous music composer. We can also take the example of Helen Keller who was both deaf and blind but discovered a new horizon for the blind. Sudha Chandran is another example of our country who has become famous as a dancer on his artificial leg and this is made possible by his iron determination.

It is our sacred duty to devise suitable works for them and give them special training in order to rehabilitate the with dignity in our society. It is not charity but sympathy that they need. There are some philanthropic organisations and NGOs that are doing good work to rehabilitate the handicapped. They afford artificial limbs and other equipments free of cost. They have also opened training centres where the handicapped or the challenged persons are trained to develop their talents. The government has also taken some steps for them such as free journey by bus or by train, reservation of some employment in government and para-government sectors etc. But that is not enough. We should have sympathy for them. They should not be looked down upon as social burdens. As for the physical disabled children the parents and other members of the society should have a soft corner in their hearts to acknowledge their position in the society. Need to give them a little more love.
